When you strength train, you break down your muscles, and to rebuild them, you need energy. The most efficient source of energy for muscle growth is protein; it acts as building blocks for your muscles. A general guideline is that you need two grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. You can easily calculate it by taking your body weight and multiplying it by two. For example, 80 x 2 = 160 grams of protein per day.
Whey protein is a so-called fast protein, meaning that the protein is quickly absorbed by the body. By drinking a protein shake before or after training, you ensure that your body gets enough protein to prevent muscle breakdown and increase muscle building. This way, you ensure that you get the amount of protein you need to build muscles without having to eat significantly more food (which can be both cumbersome if you are at the gym and expensive). Dosage recommendation:
Mix 1 scoop (about 33 g) with 300 ml of water in a shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Scoop is included in all GAAM products.
